
Connie Sims
Dr. Connie Sims is a recently retired National Consultant for the Elementary and Secondary Division of Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ. She is a former teacher of grades pre-school through 12 and the university level. Her specialties were early childhood, reading, English and literature. She has also had administrative experience as a K-3, 4-6, K-6 principal in urban settings; assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction at both the district and county levels; superintendent of a private school and coordinator of student teaching for the University of Michigan.
While working with ETS, Dr. Sims spent 8 years working with teachers; school, district and state level administrators; teacher unions and associations assisting them with improving the quality of teaching for beginning and advanced level teachers. Developing more effective evaluation systems was another aspect of her consultive services. Two highlights of her experience were a successful five year relationship with a large, predominately African –American urban district that had been taken over by the state and a 3 year relationship with a state wide bi-lingual and Bankstreet College program developing teacher leaders.
