Experience with The Framework for Teaching
Elaine works with schools, districts, regional cooperatives, professional associations and state departments of education to provide in-depth support and strategic leadership for initiatives developed to improve professional practice and learning. She provides customized, in-service training for districts throughout the United States using The Framework as a foundation for a revised evaluation system, for mentoring their new teachers, and for collaborative professional learning.
For nearly a decade Elaine has served as a certified national trainer for the Professional Development Division of a premier testing and evaluation company. As such, she has led workshops for administrators and teachers in school districts, colleges and at national conferences using The Framework for Teaching. In addition to consulting and training, she designs, develops and teaches distance-learning courses based on the framework.
Elaine has first-hand experience using The Framework components for observing and providing feedback to teachers in her own districts and has implemented mentoring programs for new teachers in two of her districts. She has enjoyed a working relationship with Charlotte Danielson since 1996.

Professional Experience
Elaine has twenty-six years of experience as both a teacher and administrator in diverse K-12 public school education settings. Within her career she has led curriculum/instruction/staff development initiatives as Director of Teaching and Learning for several Midwestern school districts. She has designed, organized and evaluated professional learning experiences, including retreats and year-long study groups for administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals. She has facilitated teacher teams for writing performance-based assessments and using data for school improvement planning and instructional delivery. In her district Elaine piloted the first observation skills training program in Minnesota for principals based on the framework.
Elaine is an able grant writer, having obtained over $345,000 in grants for establishing and implementing teacher induction programs and teacher evaluation programs as well as programs specifically for gifted and talented students. Before moving into central administration, she held positions as a high school and middle school English teacher, special education teacher and gifted and talented coordinator. She continues to teach graduate level courses for teachers.
